What is PoE?

Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows network cables to deliver both data and electrical power at the same time. This means devices like cameras, access points, or VoIP phones can be connected and powered using just one Ethernet cable.

Instead of installing separate power supplies, PoE simplifies your setup and makes network expansion much easier.

How does it work?

A PoE-enabled device receives power directly through the network cable from a PoE switch or injector. This eliminates the need for additional wiring and reduces installation effort.

Why use it?

Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows network cables to carry electrical power alongside data. This eliminates the need for separate power supplies and gives you more freedom when planning installations.

  • Simplified cabling

No separate power supply required for connected devices, reducing installation complexity

  • Flexible installation

Install devices exactly where they are needed - not just where power outlets are available.

  • Centralized power management

Power and manage devices through your network infrastructure for improved control and efficiency

  • Scalable infrastructure

Expand your network easily without major rewiring or additional electrical installations

  • Reliable operation

Ensure stable performance with fewer failure points and centralized backup options

  • Remote management options

Monitor and control connected devices via smart or managed switches from a central interface

Which PoE Level do you need?

Different applications require different power levels. Here’s a quick overview:

  • PoE (802.3af) – For devices such as VoIP phones and basic network equipment
  • PoE+ (802.3at) – For IP cameras, wireless access points, and higher power devices
  • PoE++ (802.3bt) – For high-power applications such as PTZ cameras or advanced network hardware
  • Ultra PoE – Provides extended power beyond standard PoE levels for demanding applications, long-distance installations, and specialized equipment

Choosing the right standard ensures stable performance and efficient power delivery.
